Stars Awards 2013

This year, The Children’s Foundation proudly hosted their 7th Annual Stars Awards. The awards aim to bring together, and celebrate the achievements of children in our region living with a disability, as well as recognise the challenges they face on a day to day basis. The awards also honour the people around the children who are helping to make an impact on their life, such as friends, siblings and parents.

26 people from around the North East were celebrated, and invited to the Biscuit Factory, the UK’s largest art, craft & design gallery set in the heart of Newcastle’s cultural quarter, to receive their awards. Metro radio’s breakfast show hosts, Steve and Karen were there once again to host the ceremony and to award the deserving nominees. Nomination categories were; child/young person, friend/sibling and parent/carer.

Nominations were sent in from all across the North East, with organisations such as North East Autism Society, Northern Counties School and the Great North Children’s Hospital, amongst others, recognising the achievements of people, who in their eyes, have been real stars.

It was an honour to meet all the stars on the day, each with their own inspiring stories and dedication.

Remember, this is an annual event, so if you know someone who deserves an award, contact kerry.mccormack@nuth.nhs.uk for more information.
