Newcastle University Rugby Club getting the X-Factor

A team of eight players from Newcastle University Rugby Club joined forces outside the X-Factor Live Tour, last night at Metro Radio Arena, to raise money for The Children’s Foundation.  An incredible £242 was raised in just an hour from the generous X-Factor audience as they queued for the concert.

Wearing The Children’s Foundation t-shirts and armed with buckets the team collected money which will improve the health and well-being of children across the region.  Last year the charity directly helped, involved or affected the lives of 29,500 children across the North East.

Charles Ramsay, NURFC player and TCF Volunteer, organised the collection siad he was pleased with the response by his fellow team players, ‘I posted the event on the rugby Facebook page, saying I needed volunteers for collecting at the concert and within 20 mins I had around 13 people say they’re willing to do it, including the Director of Rugby.’

Natalina Sutherland, Media and Community Fundraiser at The Children’s Foundation, added ‘It was great to have such a great response from the team, who were willing to help at the collection.  There isn’t much time to collect before a concert, so collecting that much in an hour is great. The players were also given a treat by one generous concert-goer who gave them a bag of sweets to have when they had finished.’
