My volunteering experience!

Hi! My name is Eva and I’m a Newcastle University undergraduate in my third year of studying philosophy. I joined the Children’s Foundation team as a volunteer in September of 2018 under the title of ‘eBay volunteer’ as part of the universities career development scheme in order to gain some experience of the volunteering sector and explore what career options interested me. What started as ‘just volunteering’ quickly became a highlight of my week, coming into a friendly office and meeting people who all work for such a great cause has been inspiring and helped massively in terms of developing an idea of what I want to do in the future career wise.

The ability to raise money for the charity in such an easy and fun way has also been a great element of my volunteering experience. I am a big clothing and fashion lover and so getting to sort through an array of clothing and choose what I think would raise money for the foundation when sold on eBay was a great way to make a difference, from the sale of a 99p top to £26 Doc Martens, everything makes a difference!

So, if you’re looking for a volunteering experience that is both fun and fulfilling, or just looking to gain an insight into the charity sector, then I cannot recommend The Children’s Foundation more!
