Golf Day 2013
For the second year running, The Children’s Foundation held their annual Golf Day at Tynemouth Golf Club.
Whilst enjoying welcome bacon butties, golfers took to the practice green for a putting competition where Dave Jones, from Opus Building Services, proved himself to be the putting master.
Teams from companies across the North East competed to be crowned TCF Golf Day winners, with Compass Developments taking the lead.
Ryder Architecture was also amongst the winners, with team members Steve Badlock and Marc Horn winning prizes for Longest Drive, and Nearest the Pin respectively. The weather was definitely on the golfer’s side, with the sun shining all day long, and back at the club house the teams were treated to a BBQ and trophy presentation.
The Children’s Foundation received lots of support from local businesses who donated raffle prizes towards the event. Along with the raffle, the day raised £3,000 to go towards The Children’s Foundation’s happy, healthy safe appeal. This appeal raises money to fund vital medical and lifestyle research to help to cure sick children and prevent them from becoming ill. The appeal also supports NHS services for children, such as the campaign to include the latest technology in the new Great North Children’s Hospital, in order to make time spent in the hospital as comfortable and stress-free as possible for children and their families. The Children’s Foundation also manages partnership projects which deliver practical, researched interventions to help children with disabilities or mental health issues and to promote the importance of child safety.
