The 25th European Academy of Childhood Disability was a three day conference hosted in Newcastle-Gateshead from 10th-12th October 2013. The theme of the conference was From Basic Research to Policy. An exciting mix of presentations including lectures from keynote speakers, invited oral presentations, submitted oral presentations, posters and debates on hot topics in research and practice, were attended by the world’s leading experts in this field.

Peregrine Solly, Chief Executive of The Children’s Foundation, says “Supporting innovative research that will improve the lives of children with disabilities in the North East, is at the heart of what The Children’s Foundation stands for. Without vital research, developing new technologies and the sharing of this information, improvements cannot be made for children, who so desperately need our help.”

The EACD is an academic association of professionals working with children with disability throughout Europe, with over 500 members who are paediatricians, neuropaediatricians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychologists, nurses, social workers and special-needs teachers; represented by 35 countries.
