Mark has teamed up with the family business to help raise funds and awareness for his chosen charities, The Children’s Foundation and The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, before he fly’s off  to Australia on the 8th October for his latest incredible challenge.

The planned 70 day trek starting in Perth on 16th October is due to finish on Christmas Eve in Sydney and follows Marks amazing 3,100 mile run across the USA in 2011.

Mark said, “I’m getting really excited now and at the same time very nervous. The prospect of running 41 miles per day in the heat of the Australian Summer is a challenge that I’m looking forward to immensely.

“It’s going to take an unprecedented amount of effort and good fortune to reach the finish line on time at Bondi Beach on Christmas Eve. It’s also going to take a lot of public generosity to raise the target of £50,000 for The Children’s Foundation and The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

“I’m looking forward to taking people on the virtual journey across Australia via www.rungeordierun.com and my social media feeds. If the run across the USA in 2011 was anything to go by, this next run has all the makings of being an incredible journey. It’s now down to me to put my one foot in front of the other a few million times in order to successfully complete The Benfield Australia Run.

“I am delighted that such a large and respected North East business like Benfield has become my main sponsor for the run.” he added.

Mark King, Benfield Motor Group, said: “Benfield is a North East family business and Mark is a great ambassador for the region and we are delighted to support him and to help raise as much money as possible for ‘The Children’s Foundation’ and ‘The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation’.”
