…a huge THANK YOU!…

The Children’s Foundation would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all the runners, who took part in the Great North Run 2013 to raise money for the vital work we carry out here in the North East. With a special thanks going to Positive Solutions, Durhamlane and all the individual runners who ran 13.1 miles, from Newcastle to South Shields.

Paul McAleer – who ran the Great North Run for the very first time…

The hospitality marquee at the end of the run, on Gypsy’s Green was busier than ever, with a record number of runners joining us for tea, coffee and snacks. It was also an opportunity for everyone to meet up with their family and friends. The atmosphere in the marquee was great and we can honestly say it was so nice to meet everyone, especially to those who we have spoken to on a weekly basis, over the last few months.

There was a scary moment around 1.30pm when the wind proved too much, and the roof of the marquee lifted off at one side and there was a small evacuation. Needless to say this did not stop our Sports Therapist, Kirsty Reid, who carried on treating our runners to their well-deserved massages outside on the green. Armed with our refreshments, Kirsty gave treatments nonstop for until after 4pm. Thank you @kirtsyFACE_88
