South Northumberland Cricket Club 560 mile Charity Bike Challenge

South Northumberland Cricket Club are undertaking the challenge to cover the distance from the cricket club to Lord’s and back over the CricketForce weekend on Saturday 28th March and Sunday 29th March 2015.
The challenge will involve members of cricket club cycling 560 miles from their club South North to Lords and back again over two days on static bikes. The club members are signing up for either 30mins for U13s or 60mins for U14 years and over.
Melvyn Betts, Head Coach at SNCC and ex-professional Cricket Player is organising the event, commented “We wanted to do something different this CricketForce weekend; it’s a time when all the families come down to lend a hand is sprucing up the ground. We thought this was an ideal opportunity to raise some more money for our chosen charity, The Children’s Foundation. It’s a two-day event which gives us a chance to get our members together for a real community atmosphere at the ground.”
The club will be organising other events throughout the year to support this very worthy North East charity helping the most vulnerable children. The Children’s Foundation is the leading regional children’s healthcare charity covering the North East and Cumbria, which aim to make the health of children and young people in the region the best in the country. Their current focus is on the relief of distress, disability and disadvantage.
Libby Nolan, fundraising manager of The Children’s Foundation, said: “We are thrilled to find out that South Northumberland Cricket Club will be supporting us this year, and organising such an ambitious challenge. Seeing people challenge themselves, sometimes to beyond their limits, in aid of charity is always so moving. The money raised will go towards helping us improve the health and well-being of children across the North East.”
