25 Year Anniversary Celebrations
On Thursday 4th June, we kicked off our 25 year celebrations by launching our new appeal ‘Because Minding Matters’ which focuses on children’s mental health in the North East and Cumbria. At our 25 year celebrations we were joined by some of our old and new supporters who helped us to celebrate the past 25 years of the charity and gain an insight into our future plans.
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended our launch on Thursday and helped us to celebrate our 25 years of The Children’s Foundation since our Yellow Brick Road Appeal.
At our appeal launch we were also joined by our founder Sir Al Aynsley-Green who spoke about the ‘mental health scandal’ we are currently facing in the North East due to lack of services available for children and young people suffering from mental health illnesses.
Due to this crisis, our aim is to raise £2million to help improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the North East and Cumbria.

Among the guests at our celebrations was Angela Wright, the last surviving member of the Barry Sisters, the famous singing trio who found fame in the 1950s and 60s. Angela proudly presented us with a cheque of £10,000 left to us in the will of her sister June who died last September.
